Are You Concerned About Your Oral Health?

I am very conscious of my oral health also like the rest of you.  I read a lot about products that are safe and effective.  I have tried a lot and some products have impressed me but most of them upon research doesn’t really help and at times worsen the condition of your oral cavity.  I have been using mouthwash with great alcohol content and have found it really effective because of its strong minty taste that is left after rinsing.  I used it to shield me against bad breath and help me interact socially with everybody without being conscious of my breath.  All those years that I have been using the product I thought it was helping me, to my surprise my dentist told me that too much alcohol content in a mouthwash can cause dryness of the mouth, thus, making your mouth desirable environment for bacterial infestation

And as we all know when we make a desirable environment for the bacteria, we are encouraging growth and multiplication leading to an undesirable condition like bad breath.  Try therabreath and see if that helps at all.

Good thing I always consult with my dentist if prolonged use of some products wouldn’t harm me.  Another product I came to love is the toothpaste with whiteners.  After more than a month or two of use I had teeth sensitivity attacks which are very unusual to me.  I visited my dentist and when she found out I am using toothpaste with whiteners. She informed me that toothpaste with whiteners have acid which can actually weaken the enamel, it causes thinning and thus exposing my teeth to more harm.

Your gum tissue health is also very important, without it, you could be headed for trouble.  Try a portable oral irrigator or when not travelling, consider the hydrofloss.

Save yourself from embarrassment, use the best products for your oral cavity.  Not everything that tastes right is right for you, you have to research and find out what’s safe and effective.

Bacterial Growth Causes Gingivitis, An Inflammation Of The Gums

oral irrigator

Gingivitis is a general term used to describe inflammation of the gums. This is caused by the growth of bacteria between the teeth and the gums. These bacterial biofilms (plaque and tartar) can be minute; in fact they can be microscopic and still cause this type of inflammation. Halitosis or bad breath is one of the side effects of this inflammation and although having bad breath is not life-threatening, it is able to cause embarrassment, social isolation and low self-esteem.

If gingivitis is left to worsen, deep cavities between the teeth and the gums are formed. It can affect the bone of the jaws which support the teeth meaning the teeth become loose and will more than likely require extraction. An ozone generator may be of great value in this regard. It is vital therefore to ensure that the teeth are correctly maintained, in order to prevent severe infection from happening.

Regular teeth brushing aside, it is important to regularly visit your dental hygienist or dentists to have your teeth professionally cleaned. When the dentist cleans your teeth they remove the plaque. You may be able to reduce the plaque build up through use of an oral irrigator. Once this has been removed the cause of the inflammation is also removed.

Plaque takes approximately three months to grow again, so if you have recurring bouts of gingivitis, you will probably be advised to have your teeth professionally cleaned every 3 – 4 months. The norm is every 6 months, but it may be necessary to do this on a more regular basis in order to prevent re-infection. One useful device is the hydro floss, which should not be confused with the hydro pulse – they are two different instruments. Tartar is able to start forming again as little as 24 hours after you have had your teeth professionally cleaned.

A well developed gingivitis condition is able to cause all kinds of problems. The bacteria can infect the gums and even enter the bloodstream. You may not even notice this happening but if this bacteria enters the bloodstream the body can become prone to varying general inflammations. Links have been found between this condition and pancreatic cancer, long term heart disease, arteriosclerosis and osteoporosis. Although a citation is required, we have even seen that gingivitis has a connection with low birth weight and pre-term births.

Lighting a Gas Grill

Lighting a Gas Grill

Here are the basic steps for lighting a gas grill:

1. Even while working with gas grills, make sure that the grill is in an open, well-ventilated place. It is dangerous to attempt grilling in places like garages or sheds. Make sure that the grill is kept away from the house and also that there are no low hanging tree branches nearby.
2. Since gas grills work on gas, you have to have a full tank before every meal. This will save you considerable embarrassment and some last minute running around, in case you run out of gas just when you are in the middle of your party and have a half-cooked steak on the grill.
3. With gas grills, it is important to check that there are no gas leaks. The best way to check this is to light the grill and then turn the knob all the way to high to see how high the flame reaches. If the flame reaches a good height, you can be fairly certain that the main parts of the gas grill Ð the gas tank, the regulators as well as the grill fittings are in good working order. On the other hand, a low flame usually means less gas in the tank or a leakage.  If you notice a low flame, then refer to the manual that came with the equipment. It should give some simple instructions for you to follow, like tightening the fittings to fix the leak.
4. Starting the fire in a gas grill is fairly simple Ð just turn on a switch or turn a dial and the flame is turned on. Some older models may require you to turn the gas on first and then start a fire by lighting a match or by using a lighter. Either way, it is a lot easier to start a fire in a gas grill than in a charcoal one.
5. Once the fire is started, it is recommended that the flame be turned to high and the grill covered. This is known as preheating and allows better and more even cooking of the food.
6. To make things even more convenient, some modern grills come with built-in temperature gauges that indicate when the grill is ready for cooking. Even if your grill does not have a temperature gauge, lighting a fire and leaving your grill covered for about ten minutes should get it ready for cooking.
